stuffed cheese garlic bread

I loved it when my parents ordered stuffed garlic bread from Dominos. We used to have it almost every week. They (Dominos) first had plain garlic bread sticks in their menu, which is usually had by dipping the sticks with cheese dip or jalapeno dip. Later they introduced stuffed cheese garlic bread. Ah! A bite of this hot cheesy bread with the crunch of sweet corn and jalapenos is simply irresistible! Just a thought of it makes my mouth water!!

This time I thought of trying to make this myself and actually tried with 2 versions. Stuffed cheese garlic bread using all purpose flour; and whole wheat stuffed cheese garlic bread, for a nutritional twist! And at my 1st try, it came out really well. We all loved it at home. So this recipe is really easy to make.

In this post I’m sharing stuffed cheese garlic bread using all purpose flour. I’ll soon post on whole wheat stuffed cheese garlic bread as well. For this recipe, the most important thing you need is an OTG or microwave oven and some handful of ingredients. Do try this and let me know your experiences as well. Enjoy!!

Stuffed Cheese Garlic Bread recipe:

Ingredients:

· All purpose flour (maida) -2 cups.

· Dry yeast – 1 ¼ tsp

· Crystal sugar 1 tsp

· Warm milk ½ cup

· Salt – as per taste

· Garlic paste 1 tbsp

· Olive Oil 2 to 3 tbsp

· Butter 1 tbsp

· Oregano 2 tsp

· Chilli flakes 1 tsp

· Sweet corn 1 small cup

· Jalapeno ½ small cup

· Grated mozarella cheese 1 tbsp

· Grated cheddar cheese (you can also use normal amul cheese) 1 tbsp

· Warm water 1 ½ cup (enough water to knead the dough)

· Basil leaves (optional)

Method of preparation:

Step 1:

In a small bowl add yeast, sugar, pour in warm milk. The milk must not be too hot or too cold, just luke warm temperature. Or else the yeast will not react as desired. Let it rise, it will take about 15 mins.

Step 2:

In another big bowl add all purpose flour, salt, 2 tbsp of olive oil and risen (proofed) yeast. Mix well. Add warm water for mixing the dough. Mix well till it is soft and slight fluffy. Smear some oil over the formed dough. Close the bowl with a cloth or lid and keep it aside for 1 hour.

Step 3:

After an hour you can see the dough has risen to double in size. Mix the dough again. Smear some oil again, close it and keep it aside for another half an hour.

Step 4:

In parallel to your preparation, you can make the garlic paste mixture. For this take another small bowl add all the melted butter, garlic paste, oregano, chilli flakes. Keep it aside.

Step 5:

Pre heat oven at 220 degree Celsius for 20 mins.

Step 6:

Take the dough. It would have risen again. Knead the dough again and roll it into a thick flat round in shape. To half of the round flat dough, spread a layer of the garlic paste mixture you just prepared. Add sweet corn, jalapenos, sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese over them. Sprinkle some salt. Close it with other half of the dough and gently press on the sides. The shape must be of a semi circle after stuffing, folding and concealing.

Step 7:

To this now smear another layer of the remaining garlic paste mixture on top of the dough. There should be a thick layer of paste on the dough for the perfect taste. After thoroughly covering the top of the dough, gently using the knife slit the dough in vertical lines. It should form nearly 5 to 6 lines. This makes it easier for you to cut these in sticks after its completely baked. You can sprinkle some more of oregano and basil leaves (optional).

Step 8:

Grease the baking tray with olive oil. Place the stuffed dough onto this tray and keep it in oven. Bake it at 220 degree Celsius for 30 to 35 mins. The top of the dough should have a good brown in color. Not too brown!

Step 9:

Remove the bread out of the oven and cut into proper sticks with the help of the lines you had formed previously. The dough should not be sticky or smell of half baked bread( raw smell).

Step 10:

Your garlic bread is now ready. Enjoy this as it is or you can have it with cheese dip.

Tips:

1. You can also add chopped garlic cloves while smearing the top of the bread for more garlic flavor.

2. You can use homemade cheese dip or the readymade flavored mayonnaise which you get it at store. Kids will love it.

3. You can make it even healthier by adding veggies of your choice like onions, olives, bell peppers etc.

4. You can also sprinkle some basil leaves for a beautiful aroma.

5. If you feel your bread is not completely baked after cutting it in slices, you can place them again into the oven and bake it for 10 more minutes.
